Privacy Policy
Reading stays personal.
This policy explains what Aloud stores, what may be shared, and the choices available to you.
Your reading data
Aloud does not require an account, show advertising, track you across apps or websites, or use analytics. Books, reading positions, bookmarks, highlights, collections, activity, covers, custom fonts, and preferences are stored in the app’s private storage.
If you enable iCloud Sync, this data and your imported book and font files are also stored in your private iCloud container so they can stay in sync across your devices. Apple processes iCloud data under its own privacy policy.
Files you choose
Aloud accesses a book, cover image, or font only after you select it with an Apple system picker. The app copies selected books and fonts into its private storage so they remain available offline. Aloud does not alter or delete the original file.
Diagnostics
Aloud uses Sentry, a third-party crash-reporting service, to send crash reports, caught errors, and limited diagnostic breadcrumbs to the developer for diagnosing reliability problems. Reports may include app and operating-system information, device characteristics, stack traces, the operation that failed, and recent technical actions in the app.
Aloud disables Sentry performance tracing, screenshots, and view-hierarchy capture. Before remote diagnostic events are sent, Aloud restricts attached context to technical fields and does not intentionally send book titles, filenames, file paths, EPUB resource names, book text or files, custom-font filenames or files, or cover images. Diagnostics may also be written to Apple’s on-device unified log. Sentry retains transmitted reports according to the developer’s configured Sentry retention period.
Sharing and third parties
Aloud does not sell or rent personal data. Diagnostic data is shared with Sentry only to operate and improve the app. A Files or Photos provider processes selections according to its own privacy policy. When you choose to export a reading session, Apple Calendar receives the event details you review and approve.
Deleting your data
Remove a book from the Library to delete its app-owned copy and associated data. Remove imported fonts from Settings. Deleting Aloud removes data stored locally by the app. If iCloud Sync is enabled, synced data may remain in your private iCloud storage and on your other devices. You can turn off iCloud Sync at any time.
Policy changes
This policy and Aloud’s App Store privacy disclosure will be updated when the app’s data practices materially change.
